Hotels - under construction

The hotel industry around the world is becoming much more environmentally pro-active.  The leading organization for sustainable hotels is the International Hotels Environmental Initiative, to which a number of leading hotel chains belong.  IHEI publishes some excellent guidebooks and training materials for hotels that want to improve their environmental performance to reduce costs and satisfy guests.

Another industry organization devoted to sustainability is the American Green Hotels Association.  They have an on-line catalog of cost-saving devices for hotels as well as some success stories.

The Bass Hotels publish brochures about their environmental achievements.

A hotel is usually only as sustainable as its designers plan, so it is important to remember that all of the good websites devoted to sustainable design and construction are applicable to hotels.
