Emission Reductions and Climate Change
Many organizations and companies are now concerned about reducing their
emissions of greenhouse gases. Since markets are evolving to sell "carbon
credits" and regulations may set caps on emissions, it is necessary to know how
to measure and manage carbon emissions. The references here will help you get
started.
But before you do, you should consider the resources in the Measurement
section of this CD. Measuring emissions is part of environmental management
accounting and sustainability performance assessment. So make sure you
understand the overall measurement issues as well as the specifics of emissions.
The leading organization developing approaches for measuring Greenhouse Gas
emissions is the The Greenhouse Gas Protocol Initiative. Review their website
for extensive additional information.

steps you can take to measure your office’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions;
Suggestions for reducing your office’s CO2 emissions.

These Manuals cover about 50 industries and also some common operations such as
vehicle driving. They describe the procedures and recommended approaches for
estimating emissions from facilities and various practices.
