Industry Sector Collections for

There is a vast amount of industry-specific information available for CP and P2.
It is not possible to provide the best manuals from all of them, but there are some
collections of sector-specific information that are useful. These publications usually
describe the operations of the industry, significant environmental issues, regulations and
standards, CP and P2 solutions, and often include links to other information resources.
- World Bank Pollution Prevention and Abatement Handbook
The World Bank and International Finance Corporation.
This includes short chapters on about 50 industry sectors with descriptions of operations,
environmental issues, relevant environmental standards and some CP solutions.
- Sector Notebooks
US Environmental Protection Agency.
The most comprehensive collection of its kind, covering 30 industries, each
Notebook provides extensive information about operations, environmental issues and
regulations, CP and P2 solutions, and additional information resources.

Asian Sectors Sustainability Reports
Association for Responsible Investment in Asia. 2006. 9
reports in zip file.
Unique evaluation of the state of "sustainability" within 9 major industrial
sectors in Asia, such as auto, technology, mining, and also supply chain and
Environment/Governance/Society, or the state of responsible management in
general. Funded by the International Finance Corporation, each reports
concludes with recommended questions that investors should ask of Asian
partners. Since everything is going to be made in Asia one day it
seems, these are relevant to anyone doing business with Asia.
- Emission Estimation Technique Manuals
Environment Australia
These Manuals cover about 50 industries and also some common operations such as
vehicle driving. They describe the procedures and recommended approaches for
estimating emissions from facilities and various practices.
- Cleaner Production Information Clearinghouse Database
United Nations Environment Programme.
This is a database program that includes over 300 case studies of CP in a wide
range of industries. It also includes databases of CP publications and organizations.
- Checklists for Pollution Prevention and Environmental Impact Reduction
US Environmental Protection Agency.
These checklists cover more than 30 types of development for which an Environmental
Impact Assessment is often required. They ask questions to guide consideration of CP and
P2 options to reduce impacts.
